Oct. 8th: “Super Fan” Finds The Job – Chaz E.

October is here, and once again we are celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (#NDEAM). Reflecting a commitment to a robust and competitive American labor force, the 2019 National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) theme is “The Right Talent, Right Now.” Observed each October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents.T

Please help us in highlighting the accomplishments of all people with disabilities who are employed or have their own business by submitting success stories.  We had a great response last year, and are now in search of more great stories as well as updates!

October 8, 2019: “Super-Fan” Finds The Job! – Chaz E.

As thousands of excited fans start making their way to their cars to beat the post-game traffic, event staff at The Linc are posted throughout the stadium’s busiest areas to ensure a safe and swift departure. One person you can be sure is there is Chaz, giving out countless high fives along with directions to the nearest bathrooms and exits. As you watch Chaz interact with fans, you quickly realize how good he is at his job, and how much he loves it. He uses a map to provide fans with visual directions, he lends his towel to a fan who just spilt their souvenir drink on their pants, he shares in the excitement of an Eagles victory. Chaz is employed part time at Lincoln Financial Fields and has received awards for the level of customer service he provides.

Chaz has had other jobs, most notably as a cart attendant at a local grocery store. Then one day Chaz decided that he didn’t just want a job, he wanted the job. He wanted the job where he could balance success and happiness and manage to get paid doing it. For a sports fan who enjoys working with people, what better place to accomplish that goal than in a football stadium full of excited sports fans? For Chaz this means working part-time at The Linc, and part time at Liacouras Center. As an alumnus of Temple University, Chaz will readily tell you that he prefers working the Temple home games, with Eagles games coming in a close second. For Chaz, it’s all about helping people that share his interests, whether that be helping them find the nearest bathroom, or starting the famous “E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!” chant for hundreds of energized fans as they depart the stadium after a home team victory.

Chaz enjoys working and the sense of belonging, accomplishment, and success it brings him. He loves it so much that he recently considered a third job! For now, Chaz has decided to stick with the two and explore entrepreneurship. Reach for your dreams, Chaz!
