2019 NDEAM Celebration:
Right Talent, Right Now!
October is here, and once again we are celebrating National Disability Employment Awareness Month (#NDEAM). Reflecting a commitment to a robust and competitive American labor force, the 2019 National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) theme is “The Right Talent, Right Now.” Observed each October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents.
Please help us in highlighting the accomplishments of all people with disabilities who are employed or have their own business by submitting success stories. We had a great response last year, and are now in search of more great stories as well as updates!
Success stories can be submitted through the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/666Z55P.
Succeeding with a “Texas Roadhouse Smile”!
October 3, 2019 – Samantha
Texas Roadhouse in Palmyra, PA truly believes in inclusion for all people. They have a great management team that creates an open atmosphere, patient and understanding training staff, and a positive culture that helps all staff excel. Samantha is one person who has benefited from this.
Samantha had recently applied for many jobs and interviewed at more than five businesses with no success. Brian Johnson, the Texas Roadhouse franchise owner, sat down with Samantha and her job coach, interviewed her, and hired her on the spot! Samantha was delighted to be hired. She shadowed the restaurant’s trainer for 5 shifts, then was able to start working independently, with only occasional support.
The team at Texas Roadhouse has been very supportive of Samantha and check in with her about where she may need some help. She is happy with her first paying job, and her favorite part of the job is welcoming customers and saying goodbye with a big “Texas Roadhouse Smile”!
