Reflecting the important role that different perspectives play in workforce success, this year’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) theme is “Inclusion Drives Innovation.” Observed each October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents.
The Philadelphia “Employment 1st, Employment NOW!” Steering Committee is celebrating this year’s event with a month of employment success stories. Celebrating 16 Years on the Job!
Victor has just celebrated 16 years with the Weston Hotel! Although Victor mainly serves as a dishwasher/utility person, he is often asked to cover in other departments because of his ability to catch on quickly. His co-workers, who provide natural supports, and supervisory staff speak very highly of his work performance and his ability to get along well with everyone. Victor, a single parent, who lives independently, continues to be an excellent role model for his son by epitomizing resilience.
